Hey Randy,
How are you? I've sent out class reunion info. but haven't heard back from you :( Perhaps you're out of the country. Al K., Cheryl and I are hoping you can make it the 19th (this month)! Hope to hear from you...I'm out of town for a couple days, so won't reply right away.
Fondly,
Deb

Hi:

Just recently found you as an author - am trying to read all your past books - very nice to read them in order and understand the past references to places, people and things! One quick question - is it true that if you through barnyard animals in the water the pig will find his way to shore first as mentioned in Dark Light or was that just BS?

Thanks - love your books.

say it ain't so. Doc Ford books are more popular than ever, and traffic on this site is greater than ever. However, we are not hearing as much from the author...except when there is a new product to sell, or promote, or his home to rent. No fun. Loved the old days on this board where it was a true Q&A about this series of books and the art of writing.

David - you question as to whether "Sanibel Flats" was reissued in a leather bond LTD edition of 200 IS true - i ordered one when it was announced and have #34 of 200 - it does have the three autographs and is very nice - there was talk of other previously published books of Randy's possibly offered in similar LTD edition leather bound covers but don't know if they were- i was pleased to add the Sanibel Flats LTD "reissue" to my collection of all of Randy's 1st edition Doc Ford's hardcovers, including the original "Sanibel Flats" hardcover

Mister White,

A friend recommended you a few months back. My favorite character is, of course, Gus McCrae. Just kidding. Hunter's Moon was the first, then a few more, then I decided to read them in chronological order. A few weeks ago I started over with Sanibel Flats, HI,TMWIF, C, and now I'm 50 pages into NOH. The reference of the 'hippie' 'nearly hitting a homerun off the General' prompted this mail. What is the actual chronological order, if you please?
Thanks for the hours of enjoyment.

Hey Randy:
I hope that you are off windsurfing somewhere this weekend and that you and your posse are otherwise celebrating Independence Day in the following manner envisioned by John Adams:
"I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated, by succeeding Generations, as the great anniversary Festival. It ought to be solemnized with Pomp and Parade, with Shews, Games, Sports, Guns, Bells, Bonfires and Illuminations from one End of this Continent to the other from this Time forward forever more."
Cheers!

Hello,
I mailed Randy a "mullet the other white meat" t-shirt and cap back at the end of April. I was just wondering if you know if he received it. I mailed it signature confirmation. It was signed by a W. Webb. I know he's a busy man and you are flooded with emails. I just wondered if he received it.
Thank you for your time,

Dear Mr. White,

I just finished reading "Dark Light", the first of your novels that I have read. I lived and worked in Bonita Springs and Ft Myers for nearly 5 years and visited Sanibel Island serveral times. As luck would have it, I moved to Florida just in time for the most active hurricane seasons in, what, forever? Watching the eye of Hurricane Charley move ever closer to our beautiful coastline was probably the scariest thing I've ever experienced, but being a storm watcher all of my life, also one of the most exhilerating. I remember the following days and months of recovery from that storm and reading your book allowed me a glimpse of what it must have been like for those of you who were caught in the eye of it. I flew home to Georgia soon after the storm and on the return flight, was able to see the swath of destruction torn across Sanibel Island. Looking at the before and after pictures of your gorgeous home and the surrounding area brought back a lot of memories of not only Charley but also Hurricane Wilma which, as you remember, ripped up Naples pretty good.

I moved back home to Georgia last year but still hold a great love for the Southwest Coast of Florida. Reading "Dark Light" was like visiting an old friend and making a few new ones along the way. Now that I've discovered you, I look forward to reading more of Doc Ford's adventures and revisting a wonderful place in my past. Thank You!

Randy-enjoyed three or four of your books; the area really interests me. I was, and am, a huge fan of Phillip Wyle (Crunch and Des); you take up where he left off! Dark Light was excellent.

One pet peeve of mine (I'm a civil engineer); cement is an ingredient of concrete. A "cement" sidewalk would be like a sand path! Cement, sand, aggregate and water make up concrete. Sorry, just couldn't help myself.

Hi Randy!

I have been to yoru restaurant on Sanibel only once. I am planning on visiting again in early August. What is the address and name of the restaurant? Will you be down there then?

Randy and staff,

Is the below information real. It comes from a seller in Ebay. I had no idea these type of Doc Fords existed. Is this true for all Doc Fords? I am not asking if this particular offer is real just verifying this really exists1

Thanks!

Hello, I just finished The Deadlier Sex in your Randy Striker series and just love the character Westy O'Davis. Have you ever thought to bring some on the characters from the striker series into your "new" books?

Dear Randy
I'm a newly converted mystery fan! Specifically, a Randy Wayne White mystery fan. Or is it Doc Ford and Co. fan? Other than Tony Hillerman in years past, I have not ventured into this area, staying happily surrounded by mounds of historical novels, biographies, contemporary and classic novels, both humorous and severe. Mysteries were always too scarey for me. Why go there when I can just read the news?...Why I picked up "Mangrove Coast" at the library is beyond me. Was it the great book cover? Was it fate? Well, whatever it is, I'm hooked. (Even after the nightmare I had upon finishing Mangrove.) I immediately signed up for Shark River, which I just finished yesterday. Today, looking for a chronological list of your books, I stumbled upon your site. Great to see who you are. At least the parts you're showing. Thanks for the great reading! All the Best, Roxi Hardesty

Just think--I'm 65 years old and finally a groupie!!. Thanks to a friend who has all of your novels, I have had the unique experience of reading all Doc Ford novels in numerical order. And, I have relished each one. Now, after finishing Black Widow, I will start my own collection and read each one again. Because I love to read good books and feel that I have more years behind me than ahead of me, I don't normally revisit books I have read. You are going to be the exception.

I look forward to your next release. I also plan on making Randy Striker's acquaintance in the near future.

Hi, Mr. White! A few months, I went to a Plantation Barnes & Noble with some other members of our book group to hear you speak, and we enjoyed it very much (as we have your books - we've discussed two of them before this). Tomorrow, we'll be feasting at Doc Ford's while discussing Hunter's Moon. Thank you for the fun and entertainment!
Best,
Beth Doubleday
ps - I enjoyed the hot sauce, too!

Good morning! First off, of course, I will say I am a HUGE fan of Doc Ford and of your incredible gift of words. I have, uncharacteristically for me, re-read every RWW Doc Ford book I can get my hands on many times.
My question: Doc Ford's adventures seem perfect for a major motion picture. I expect that has been explored already. Is there a chance? I am stockpiling popcorn and milk duds just in case. I'm thinking Matthew McConnaughay.
Thanks for any info re this and major thanks for your terrific books.
Sincerely

P.S. I love Sanibel-Captiva area, go there 4-5 times a year - usually Tween Waters then bike through Ding Darling.

My mom and I have been fans of your books for years. We live in Naples and finally made it up to Doc Ford's on Sanibel. The food was delicious and the only things that exceed your food are your books.

Hi Randy, I really hope this gets forwarded to you. I'm interested in your thoughts on this and I have not contacted anyone else. My (father in law) runs a sightseeing/tourboat in the Boca Grande area. He does nature tours and scenic/learning trips for primarily families with kids. A few days ago while passing through the swing bridge at the Boca Grande causway he spotted an Epirb floating in the channel. After moving closer he saw that it was attached to a Manatee by a 10 foot rope. As the animal moved away he called the FWC and was told that they new about this and they would have a biologist contact him to explain. That's as far as it got. Maybe this is routine but I was upset that they would risk the animal by attaching this device to the fluke in this manner. There is more to this and I will explain if you wish to contact me. Thankyou, Jeff.

Randy,
I am a relatively newcomer to your works and have, to date, read five of the Doc Ford novels. In four of the five you have made reference to
your "Wolfe" microscope. That microscope was named for my uncle Gene. Gene's wife is the daughter of the founder of Carolina Biological Supply Company (CSBC). Gene was stationed in Germany during World War II, was involved in Central Intelligence, and spoke German fluently. He met Sophia, his wife in Germany, they married and returned to the states and Gene started to work with CBSC. He returned to Germany to locate a quality microscope for the company to sell. The one he selected was named for him. Anyway, that link really sold me on your stories. There are other links that are almost eerie--Gene and Soph's son could be Tomlinson! Our family is from an agricultural area in northwest Ohio and many of the homes are similar to pictures of the home you grew up in. We have lived in Tampa since the 60's and can readily relate to the geography described in the novels. We will be vacationing on Longboat Key from 7/12-7/26. Will you be stopping by your restaurant on Sanibel during that time? If so, would love to stop by for a meal and chat. Soph (Gene's widow) will be with us at LBK from 7/19-7/26. At any rate, you have a new, steadfast, fan. Keep up the good work!

I have enjoyed all the Randy White (and Stryker books). Just finished "Widow". Being a Santa Fe resident, one thing stood out: Georgia O'Keeffe painted mostly desert flowers, very few orchids, and she didn't sign her works~~Keep'em comin'

Hi, Randy -

Been watching the College World Series and noticed that Fresno State had a relief pitcher by the name of Tomlinson. No mention of a catcher named Ford, though...

Keep the stories coming! They're much appreciated.

Aa a multigenerationsl Floridian living in NY, I have enjoyed the trips to Sanibel with Doc Ford. Friends of my family named Snook had rental apartments (Snook Apartments) on Sanibel which were built before the causeway was constructed and where I spent many happy hours. Also, I have learned more about Florida from your novels than I ever knew during the time I lived there. Thank you for such a treat.
